We made our way through the Sacred Valley of the Incas today. It was cool to see the bright green scenery with large hilly and white cotton candied-mountain tops, as well as the llamas, alpacas, and stray dogs. Our wonderful tour guide Magali lead us on the bus tour on windy roads, explaining the rich history about the Incan empire. Figures like Cortez and Pizzaro came into our minds as we were put in the actual locations of some of these grand events. (Though a lot of us got tired and went to sleep, since it was comfortable.)
We made a few stops on our trip. First we stopped at an outdoor museum that featured llama and alpaca feeding and petting and firsthand sewing of their wools. Our next stop was devoted to shopping in the marketplace of Pizac. Honestly, I'm a little sick of the whole "necessary" shopping experience. I know I was excited last night, but after today's stressed, I've come to the realization that vacations have been pressed too much on the buying aspect. I'll still buy stuff, but it's not why we're here. Our final destination was the the train stop Agua Caliente. The train was a rocky experience, but still enjoyable. They serve you complimentary food like an airline, and it's funny to see them try to stable their cart while rocking back and forth. My friends were laughing at their attempts. The view from our coach was beautifully scenic as well. It was worth it.
Sorry I sound a bit rushed, but I am extremely exhausted as we open the Sabbath together as a school. Finally, we will experience Machu Picchu together. I can't wait to spend the Sabbath with these people who I have worked so hard with on our adventures in Peru. We're closing out on a very high note (8,000 feet approximately), and I hope the conditions will make it so we can have a great experience together.
