We started where we left off: painting a boat on the Amazon. Other groups had the opportunities to build a fence for a raft on the same river, dig trenches in the mud in the midst of fire ants, and renovate a play area for the POPP Mission girls. The painting job was messy. We worked for five hours, and the absence of primer required us to coat the vessel's ceiling multiple times; which was a grueling process in the heat and humidity. Luckily, we were not out in pure sunset like most of the others who came back badly sunburnt. We will be back Sunday to continue our goal of painting the entire small boat.
VBS tonight was a great success. Last night's promotion encouraged around 50 kids to show. We showed a short animated Bible story to start off, and then we led in Spanish Jesus songs. Students participated in a couple skits about Jesus calming the storm and Jesus healing. Finally, we played a fun game similar to Duck-Duck-Goose. To see the kids' smiling faces was great. They ran up to our bus with huge cries of joy when we came, and left us with heartfelt goodbyes as they knew we would be there with them tomorrow morning.
There isn't a greater joy than children, and it is such a blessing to experience this in an amazing country.
